A Year in Review

Living Vicky is proud of how our second year turned out:

  • We shared how to "Manage Up: Building a Better Relationship with Your Boss"
  • Partnered with MM LaFleur and Capital Hill Style for Wardrobe and Resume Makeovers
  • Created an amazing panel of women entrepreneurs, with WAFE, to ask "Are You Ready to be an Entrepreneur?"
  • Mentored young women throughout the summer in soft skills and workforce preparation, culminating in a trip to NYC
  • Met with successful women leaders who shared how to build careers in nontraditional workplaces

We've influenced, collaborated and listened to over 200 women in one year. Whew - we can't wait to see what we do next!

Women in Non-Traditional Jobs
Breaking in to the "Boys Club"

The Arlington Commission on the Status of Women, Ballston Business Improvement District, Living Vicky and the Arlington chapter of the National Organization for Women held the 2014 Women in Business Conference titled "Women in Non-Traditional Careers."

It started with networking, then segued into hearing from a diverse panel of women working in financial services, law enforcement, entrepreneurship, and corporate executive positions.

Moderated by Maureen Bunyan of ABC7, the panel also took questions from the audience, and shared their personal experiences, advice, and encouragement for women to pursue nontraditional careers.

Ambassador Spotlight
The Ladies of MM. LaFleur

Living Vicky LOVES the ladies of MM. LaFleur.  We worked with them on the Resume and Wardrobe Makeover event earlier this year, visited them in NYC with the Travelers this summer, and attended their week long "pop up" in DC last week.  Their mission is to "make the purposeful woman look and feel beautiful, without having to work too hard at it."

Their clothes are simple, elegant, and can easily transition from office to evening at affordable prices.  Many of their pieces are machine or hand washable, saving us dollars at the dry cleaners!

Here is an excerpt from their website:

Sarah LaFleur was your typical woman in finance whose closet was packed with blah-feeling pantsuits. Back then, she dreamed of a more inspired wardrobe for herself and all professional women. When she launched MM.LaFleur in 2013, she made it her mission to put the fun (and the ease!) back into the ritual of dressing for work-and to rethink the shopping process altogether.

Sarah joined forces with luxury designer Miyako Nakamura, former head designer of Zac Posen, and the two set out to fill the void.

Living Vicky and MM LaFleur have committed to future events - but feel free to shop now - 4-8 pieces at a time. Try them out for 4 days.

Keep what you love and send back the rest. Shipping is free both ways, and you only pay for what you keep.
