Are you Ready to be an Entrepreneur?
Interactive Workshop

Living Vicky and WAFE hosted 70 entrepreneur women, including 15 mentors, to an evening of candid conversations, tips, and practical steps to take to start their women-owned businesses.

We were honored to also have Marissa Levin of Successful Culture, and Rebecca Cooper, ABC7/WJLA-TV News reporter and Washington Business Report anchor, as our workshop facilitators.

Here are a few things that were shared:
  1. Work/Life Integration - notice we say integration, not management or balance. Life can't be managed.  Unexpected things happen all the time - learn to "pivot"
  2. Do your research - do not rely on the encouragement of friends/family to assess whether your idea is a marketable one
  3. Leverage free resources like:

..and our Friendraiser was a great success!

Sheila Berry and Loretta Goodwin
Instead of a "fundraiser", we hosted a "friendraiser" and invited supporters, volunteers and ambassadors to join us for a celebration of our exciting first year.

We were thrilled to have amazing guests like Marian Hopkins, Senior VP of the Business Rountable, Nancy Conrad, Founder and Chairman of the Conrad Foundation, and Loretta Goodwin, Senior Director of the America Youth Policy Forum (pictured with Sheila Berry, Living Vicky Founder & Executive Director).

Photo of the Birthday Cake Information about our Traveler Pilot and how to sup port the summer kick-off was shared over cake and champagne.

"We consider this a journey for everyone involved, so our participants are Travelers, our mentors are Journey Guides, and we refer to our syllabus as an Itinerary," says Berry, noting that Travelers earn "frequent flier" points towards free trips to expand their horizons, and to show mastery of their newly acquired skills.
